As many know, I began a reading journey last year after many years of not reading frequently. With "The Five Year Lie" I have hit 19 books for the year.
This book was one that was a random pick based on book suggestions from my kindle subscription and it did not disappoint. The story is filled with mystery from the first few pages with the main character receiving a text from 5 years ago and this sends her into a tailspin on why it was received, what the person meant when they sent it, and it truly changes the trajectory of her life.
An artist working part time for her uncle and mom to 4 year old Buzz, the main character Ariel finds herself entangled in a web of lies amongst her family, the father of her child, and a bunch of randos along the way.
What happened to Drew Miller, if that is really even his name? Why did he leave so abruptly in 2017? And how is her father's company Chime Co all involved in this mess?
The story takes many twists and turns, but has loveable characters like the super nerd Zain, who takes up interest in Ariel's mission to figure out the truth.
I highly recommend this book for a quick read that keeps you invested and guessing, all along the way. It will however, make you question all of the technology around us, especially those handy-dandy ring door-bell cameras that are everywhere now.
Hop on over to Amazon and purchase yourself a copy of Sarina Bowen's "The Five Year Lie" or download for free with your Amazon Kindle Unlimited Subscription.
